Dear Editor:

I wish to express my deep disappointment in out
newly-elected premier both for the position and the
procedure he has adopted when stating our province's
view of South Africa.

There is no doubt that churches around the world
and much of the church in British Columbia hold the
opposite opinion.

In 1985 the Harare Declaration was written,
Members of the World Council of Churches, the
World Alliance of Reformed Churches, the Lucheran
World Federation and the AID African Conference of
Churches called on all churches to:

1. Continue to pray for the end ef the unjust rule in

South Africa,

2. Call on the international community to present
renewalor rolling of bank loans to South Africa.

3. Call for iranediate and: comprehensive sanetions
against South Attica.

Mr. Vander Zalm announces himself as a good
Christian so why has he tanored the stance of quays
other Christitns around the world?

Did the premier talk with the people about this pol-
icy? Did he speak to church leaders who have fellow
Christians s.ruggling for life in South Africa?
