Winter Games held in Terrace on Feb. 28 and March 1, Leading the way was Patti Fur- niss of the Flicka Gym Club who won a total of six gold medals. She placed first on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exer- cise, and subsequently won the all-around title for women 15 and over. Furniss was a member of the winning team from Zone Five, which includes Vancouver and the North Shore. Other members of the team were Debbie Setton of the West Van- couver Recreation Centre who was sixth all-around, Tami Perkins of Flicka who placed ninth and Lisa Simmons of Vancouver, in the giris i4-and-under divi- sion, Analise Osun of the Flicka Club won the bronze medal for placing third all-around. He won the gold medal on pommel horse and silver medals for floor exercise, rings and high bar. The Boys {S-and-Under Zone Five team won the bronze medal. Cavaliers slash the com) THE Cove Cavaliers fencing club cut a swath through recent com- petition. The North Shore’s only fencing club is now in its sixth year. At the provincial junior cham- pionships in Victoria Mikko Ross, last year’s champion in the boys under-12 division won the boys under-14 title. Mikko has been fencing for about one and a half years. On Feb. 22 and 23 the Cavaliers turned in impressive results at a junior tournament held in Van- couver. In the boys under-12 division, brothers David and Andy Curtis finished second and third respec- tively, while Michael Takayama finished a strong sixth. In the boys under-16 division, the.
