ARLENE Gladstone has been named executive direc- tor of North Shore Family Services recently, and she br- ings a wealth of experience to the service. Gladstone holds a Masters degree in Social Work from UBC and brings wide ad- ministrative experience to North Shore Family Services. She is well known for her re- cent work with Vancouver YWCA where she was direc- tor of Support Services and director of Hotel/Residence. In these capacities she developed and implemented Granny Y’s, a short term emergency child care centre unique to Canada — widely viewed as a model for future child care centres. Gladstone developed and implemented the concept for four annual symposia for single mothers, and she has worked as play therapist, family counselor in children’s services and as a _ medical social worker in both Canada and England.
