And Montreal also grabbed the Grey Cup when the Alouettes defeated the Edmonton Eskimos. The Canadian dollar dipped to 95 cents U.S. The federal deficit rose to $8 billion (this year it will be nicely over $20 billion. ) Inflation was running at eight per cent. So was unemployment, with 800,000 jobless and the rate in the 15-24 age group nudging 15 per cent.
