Senior Citizens Special
Services Society in West
Vancouver.

The group has been in
operation since October
1975 when 10 seniay citizens
got together to phone shut-
ins for a friendly chat at
regular intervals and _ to
provide transportation to
doctors, hospitals, hair-

Seniors aid seniors

over 50 volunteers, of whom
15 provide transportation.
The phone links with lonely
seniors is also regarded as a
vital part of the society’s
work — with more than
5,500 calls a year now being
made.

The municipality, through
its Leisure Living program,
supplies office space, heat,
light and water free of
charge. Meanwhile, the

society is looking forward to
expanding its activities even
further when West Van's
new Senior Citizens’ Activity
is completed next year.
