Blues basketball teams
returned to.-action after a
three week Christmas break
by playing four games each
in BCIT’s annual 16 team,
Cougar Classic Basketball
Tournament.

On the men’s side of the
draw, heavily favored
Capilano College got off to a
horrendous start when they
were. upset ~ 67-42 by un-
derdog University of British
Columbia Jay Vees in the
tournament opener. The loss
appeared to shock the North
Shore college out of its post-
holiday doldrums as_ the
Blues destroyed their op-

of the tournament and was
trampled 100-56 by the Blues
fast break attack.

U.B.C was eliminated
from the tourney when they
lost a pair of heart breakers,
going down 84-78 to tour-

Falcons, then losing 67-66 to
NAIT, which provided the

infractions, again similar to
hockey, forcing the teams to
play a man short.

Goalies are kept busy in
this unique North American
version with up to 50 shots a
game possible.

While Parsons will not be
in action for the Aztecs,
there will be a definite
Whitecap flavor to the
evening. Bobby Lenarduzzi
and Bob Bolitho will both be
in-action for the Aztecs who
play in a_ division with
Minnesota, Memphis, Tulsa
and California.

Another touch of local
flavor will be former SFU
grad John McGrane who is a
tough three year veteran of
the Aztecs. McGrane played
