Special attention for four-wheelers

be an activity that only a
few weekend warriors took
part in.

Th days -—- especially on the
North Shore — four-wheel-drive
vehicles have become as much a
part of the streetscape of Van-
couver as they have been on more
rugged, mountainous terrain in
the past.

And like any specialized mode

transportation, four-wheel-
drive vehicles have specific needs
and requirements that must be
looked after for optimal perfor-
mance during the winter months.

mechanic Ivan Macek says the
most importa feature of a
four-wheel-drive truck or car is
the drive-line.

“When we check these types of
vehicles we begin with the
transmission,’’ said Macek.
“From there we check for leaks
and fluid fevels at the transfer

joints at the front end for steer-
ing, and the four-wheel-drive
shifting mechanism.”*

wear and tear.
