Call TransLink Study Anna-Louise Pentland Contributing Writer TRANSLINK presented an update on the North Shore Area Transit Plan at the Oct. 25 North Vancouver District meeting. Councillors were concerned that the study was not broad enough. Ic is looking primarily at bus service and not exam- ining infrastructure, such as bridges, or the SeaBus. The study can recommend redoing a 1995 North Shore marine study, but it would not be within its terms of refer- enee to redo a marine study. “In Seymour, cach morning we're developing enormous gridlock at the bridgeheads, so there’s little incentive to use public transit,” Carofan said. He said there will be a referendum during the Nov. 20 election on widening the bridge over the Dollarton Highway. Steve Hayto, of IBI Group, a consultant for TransI.ink, said the study is scheduled to be ¢ completed by May 2000. The study will make specific transit recommendations for the nest one to three years and set more general priorities for the next three to six years. The public can provide input to TransLink at a series of open houses. Dates for those are Nov. 17 at the West Vancouver Seniors Centre from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Nov. 18 at the Lonsdale Quay Market from 9:30 a.m. to 6: 30 p.m. and a final one at the Parkgate Community Centre on Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. People can also provide input by visiting www.translink.be.ca.
