RCMP in North Van-
couver say an officer at the
scene of a house blaze early

Sunday morning was

approached by a man who
said he had torched the
house because he wanted to
go to jail.

North Vancouver City
firefighters found the house
engulfed in flame when they
were called to 549 East Third
Street at 1 a.m. by an RCMP
patrolman who found the
fire.

By the time the fire had
been extinguished, the house
