THE FOLLOWING is a selection
of volunteer opportunities avail-
able through North Shore
Community Services (NSCS):

A compassionate volunteer
who loves children is needed to
help a mother with a severe med-
ical condition care for her three
young children while she is under-
going treatment.

People with organizational
skills are needed to help establish
an organization that will support
the independence, artistic training
and professional integration of
artistic people with disabilities.

A bus trainer is needed to
assist two people who need to take
the bus to a networking meeting
on Wednesday evenings unti) they

are comfortable doing it alcne.
Assistance is not needed for the
return trip.

Canvassers are needed on the
North Shore during the first two
weeks of November to help with
the annual fund-raising campaign
of a major health-related organiza-
tion.

“In house” volunteers are
needed to work in a shelter with
women and children who are flee-
ing from abuse. Duties include
accompanying residents to
appointnents, helping with child-
care, outings and some household
duties, and being a good listener.
