Shannon’s career can be said to have begun 15 years ago at the women’s resources cenire (UBC) on Robson Street in Vancouver when she took a course there on assertiveness. Although she had a B.A. in psychology, she had just moved to B.C. from Manitoba and was procrastination and dealing with self-sabotage. Four months ago, her son Jonathon died at birth from polycystic kidneys, a rare genetic disease. She has since written an unpublished article called When Your Baby Dies, and hopes to be able to use her own experience in helping other people to overcome the trauma of losing a loved one. While Shannon's experience and training are wide-ranging, she stresses that the principle she works with is always the same: “Everything that I do is working to help people become more effec- tive, whether it be as a com- municator or in achieving specific goals.”” Shannon uses her expertise in her own life, constantly setting and reviewing her goals. in the future she would like to produce cassette and video tapes, and is working on two books.
