INDENT S BRIEFS Nursing staff takes strike vote NURSING staff at North Vancouver’s Cedarview Lodge voted 66 per cent Thursday afternoon in favor of strike action to back con- tract demands. But no notice of job action had been issued to press time Friday. Certified with the B.C. Nurses Union in June of last year, the 18 nurses are negotiating their first contract with Cedarview. The nurses have been offered the standard collective agreement that exists between the Continuing Care Employee Relations Association (CCERA) and BCNU, said Mark Brown, CCERA’s director of human resource services. The offer would raise the nurses’ hourly wages from the current range of $14.49 to $16.75 up to $15.07 to $17.43 per hour. But the BCNU wants Cedarview’s care coordinators to be paid ai a level equal to that of hospital head nurses, rather than generat duty nurses, said BCNU communications officer Aaron Bushkowsky.
