Proposed Quay
tower disputed

Dear Editor:

I recently saw a model of the
proposed new building at the
Lonsdaie Quay on display in the
lobby of the North Vancouver City
Hall. It looked charming, until I
imagined it full size, in its finished
state, What a view for the people
who live farther up the hill!

Our city council fought hard to
establish buildings of medium
height in the area when it was first
developed. For example, the ICBC
building and the BC Rail Building.

The 200 people who will occupy
that tower if it is built cannot be
expected to do all their shopping at
the Quay market and so increase
their profits. And what about the
rest of us who drive down there to
shop? Parking is already limited in
the area and the parking shown on

tunity to congratulate the West
Vancouver Parks Board on the
beautiful flowers we have enjoyed
all this summer. .

_ The hanging baskets were never
better, and Dundarave, Ambleside,
the recreation centre and Taylor
Way, all outstanding! Great job!

Whatever is done on Lot It at
the Quay, the builders should be
compelled to include a large area
of underground parking that is ac-
cessible to the public.

This is public property and the
public deserves some consideration
as well as the developers.
