Garland’s concern with translating archetypal images intO movement is apparent also in another work on the program, Labyrinth (1938), music composed by R. Mur- tay Schafe and remounted with original dancers Maureen McKellar, Alhson Crawford and Tom Stroud. Garland received a Canada Council grant in choreography in 1982 an the culminating project, Labyrinth, was performed to acclaim in Seattle Washington in July 1983. The program also tncludes revivals of the humorous trio A Moving Story (1982) with text by Evan Alderson, Emergency (1983) a solo for dancer Janet McNulty with live flute accompaniment by Fred Cory, and Miniatures (1081) to music by Stravinsky. Garland has created many works for SFU dancers since 1965 and is the founder of the SFU Dance Program.
