(Terry Peters photo) The Federal Progressive Conservative Association of Capilano ANNUA HIGH SCHOOL seniors kicked off the 1982-3 season in soccer last week with a new North Shore league. Eight teams now will vie for a North Shore title, a switch from earlier practice which saw a _ small local component participating in a league jointly with Burnaby and New Westminster. North Shore High School Athletic Association director Len Corben credits the sudden growth in senior soccer to this year’s switch of senior rugby play to spring, freeing up potential players. However, rugby at younger levels continues to be played in the fall and the effect on soccer is easily shown by the one team turnout mustered by Carson Graham at the intermediate level. The Eagles play in a North Shore, Burnaby, New Westminster league. Their season also began last week, and on a high note as the team played to a 2-2 stand- still with powerhouse Burnaby Central. Back on the North Shore, senior action got underway Sept. 20. Windsor and Hillside tied for two, with Bill Tetrie bagging both goals for the Highwaymen and Rick Carlow and Karim Ismael contributing ~ one apiece for the Dukes. Carson Graham ied _ its game with West Van from start to finish, standing 2-0 at the half and winding up with a 5-0 final tally. Jim Wheatley and Sam Gunadesh each earned two goals, with Lyle Guerraro helping out with one goal and three assists to his credit.
