She and 49 other women took it all off for a fimdrais- ing calendar for the St. James Community Service Society. Dunstord is the development director for the society, which provides care and pro- grams for residents - of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The 12 photos teature the women, all wearing dittle or nothing, ino a “lighthearted way.” Perhaps due to the explo- sion in) similar calencars, from the Australian women's soccer team to a Saltspring {sland campaign for environ- mental funds, her depart- ment had no problem con- vincing Women to grin and bare it. The photo that Dunsford appears in shows a group of women at a tea party ina heritage heme on Barclay Street. Tea pots, cups, nap- Kins, and other accessories are strategically placed. “Everyone was nude, that’s the deal,” she said. “But that’s the interesang part. It’s scary toe take off ail your clothes. The building will offer 32 emergency beds and 10 units of supportive housing where women and children can stay for up to pve years, giving mothers time to get. their lives tozether. “It addresses a need to get women and children away from the Downtown Eastside,” said) Dunstord, adding that the demand for facilities far exceeds the cur- rent space.
