STUDENTS enjoyed a carriage ride amidst their many
appointments in the U.S. fashion capital.

ON March 15, 28 eager textiles students from West
Vancouver Secondary and Rockridge schools, along

with four chaperones, began a week-long tour filled
with unforgettable memories in New York City.

The focus of the trip was to explore the exciting world of the
fashion industry. The students had opportunities of a lifetime, vis-
iting with fashton designers and industry insiders, including the
pa ublicist for designer Christine Morton of West Vancouver, pub-

hers from fashion magazines and tips to various showrooms,
with the Tommy Hilfiger showroom topping the list.

Some highlights of the trip included taking the ferry to Ellis
Island and huffing it up to the top of the Stawe of Liberty.
Watching the bright night lights of the city below as they stood on
the observation deck of the Empire State building will be a mem-
ory that they will cherish forever.

Despite ail of the seminars the students attended and al the
work that went along with the trip, they still managed to kick back
and have fun while attending a Broadway play, and shopping at
FAO Schwarz, Victoria’s Secret, Bloomingdale’s and Century 21,
just to name a few.

They did, however, make sure that they collected funky fabric
