Whistler Mayor Ted Nebbeling said Tuesday he and his colleagues feel the work has a negative tone which might frighten drivers right off the road. “It's a very negative pamphiet, a very scary pamphlet,” Nebbeling said, The mayors ure trying to get away from the image of the Killer Highway. he said. and the pam- phtet reinstates it. Nebbeling believes it is the dri- vers who make the road dangerous, not the design of the highway. The mayors also had some questions about statements made in the pamphlet, which conflict wiih their own information. They sent 99 Watch a letter to that effect fast weck. ; Nebbeling said the mayors fully endorse 99 Watch and its goal of - preventing accidents. He is prepared to offer some financial support to the group for another pamphlet “with a Jitde bit more positive approach .., a differ- ent message with the same result.” Meanwhile, Michael Broughton of 99 Watch said he hadn't yet seen the letter the mayors had sent to the organization. He said the information con- tained in the pamphlet was fuctaal and was. obtained from the Squamish RCMP.
