Street fight WEST VANCOUVER Police were called to the 1500- block of Marine Drive at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, after a fight involving 30 to 40 people. The group left a focal nightclub and spilled into the middle of the street. A 22-year-old West Vancouver man received culs to the back of his head as a result of the incident. Police, along with the B.C. Liquor Contro! Board, are investigating the incident. trio arrested WEST VANCOUVER Police arrested three youths on Thursday, Moy 27, after a vehicle led police on a high- speed chasz. A police spokesman said that at about 4:10 a.m., police noticed a suspicious-looking youth driving a 1984 Toyota van east along Marine Drive. When police allempied to stop the vehicle, it sped up and fled north on Capilano Road. It was finally stopped by police just north of the Upper Levels Highway on Capilano Road. The vehicle, which was reported stolen earlier from Vancouver, was being driven by a 15-year-old male. Police arrested the driver and two 14-year-old males at the scene. Charges of theft and possession of stolen property are pending against the trio. Gunman jailed A 30-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was jailed for four months on Wednesday, May 19, in connection with a charge of possessing 4 rifle for a dangerous purpose. Nathan Ronald Baker was found guilty of a charge stemming from an incident that occurred on March 20, 1992 in North Vancouver City. . Baker is prohibited from possessing weapons for five years. Judge ‘Herbert Weitzel also sentenced Baker to 12 mouths’ probation. LSD charge A 20-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man was in North Van- couver provincial court recently in connection with a charge of LSD trafficking. Sean Phillip Wade Stewart pleaded not puilty to the LSD trafficking charge. He instead pleaded guilty to the lesser or included offence of narcotic possession. The original charge stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 17, 1992, in North Vancouver City. Judge Jerome Paradis sentenced Stewart to six months’ probation. Stewart is also required to perform 25 hours of community work service by July 15, Stewart appeared in court on Friday, May 7. Stats stalled A NORTH Vancouver man recently appeared in North Vancouver provincial court in connection with a charge that he did not fill out forms according to the Statistics Act. John H. McCandless, no age given, pleaded guilty to the charge and received six months’ probation in con- nection with an incident that occurred some time between June 4, 1991 ang July 23, 1992 in North Vancouver District. In addition to probation, McCandless is required io perform 25 hours of community work service by July 15. Judge Jerome Paradis sentenced McCandless on Wed- nesday, April 28.
