By Surj Rattan News Reporter The LG73 Morning Zoo crew are well on their way to launching their listeners into another day. Despite the early hour, head Zoo keeper Dean Hill and his wife of five years, traffic reporter Samantha, are full of so much energy that they could give B.C. Hydro a run for its money. In fact, the entire Morning Zoo crew, which, besides Hill and his wife, is made up of weatherman Graham Hatch, sportscaster ‘Coach’, newsman Merv Connelly and, of course, Constable Bob, are scurrying around the small control room, re-winding tape, answering the request line and blowing whisties and ringing bells. A newspaper reporter, who woke up much too early to appre- ciate this kind of buffoonery, quietly sits sipping a coffee wondering how these people can be so energetic so early in the morning. They deliver the energetic punch of TV evangelists, but without the sermon. it is a busy morning for the Morning Zoo crew. The weather outside is awful: rain with slush in the streets. The phone lines are lit up with callers wanting to know if school is cancelled and if the SkyTrain is working. Samantha has been at the radio station for 10 years. But it wasn’t working together on the Morning Zoo crew that brought the North Vancouver couple together. “We'd been going out and liv- ing together before Dean got the job here,’’ says Samantha, who is expecting the couple’s first baby in April. ‘tft wasn’t an on-loca- tion romance. We did a TV show together years ago for U-TV, a rock video show. The producers kept getting us closer together.’’ Hill admits that it felt strange at first to be working with his wife. “Initially it was a little on the tense side, but after about five years we got used to it.
