In Diaper Gym (18 months to two years), Tumble- weeds (three years) and Kindergym (four to five years), children work on motor development, motor awareness, confidence and agility. The emphasis is on fun while learning games and gymnastic skill devel. opment utilizing music and movement education. These classes will be held on Fridays, Feb. 2 to March 16 from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. (Diaper Gym), 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (Tumbleweeds), and 12:15 to 1 p.m. (Kindergym). A new Monday Kindergym class will run from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. from Jan. 22 to March I. For boys and girls ages 6 to 12 years of age, the Y’s offered recreational gymnastics program provides a chance to have fun and learn gymnastics skills through the na- Uonally-certified red, white and biue skills level pro- gram. These after-school programs run from the week of Jan. 22 to March 16. Two new gymnastics programs this winter include trampoline Level I, Tuesdays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and rhythmic gymnastics, Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m. YMCA gymnastics programs include a wind-up class at the end of the session inviting family members and friends. Transportation pick-up from designated schools is available for most of the after-school class times. All classes have limited spaces so early registration is advised. Poetry readings launch review THE CAPILANO Review and the Western Front are sponsoring an Traveller Janet Venn will present an evening of slides on Walking in Britain at the Capilano branch of North Vancouver District Library on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. From the bluebell woods in the spring, to the glorious color of the traditional country gardens in the summer, the slides will show some of the pleasures that can only be enjoyed by the traveller who has the time to stand and stare. Areas to be featured will include the majestic Lake District, the tugged Southwest Peninsula path, the rolling dales of Yorkshire and the idyllic, golden stone villages of the Cotswolds. Venn will also discuss the clothing and equipment recom- mended for a walking holiday, and the best times to plan a trip. The iibrary will provide a display of books to complement the talk. There is no charge for the pro- gram, but participants are asked to come in good time as seating is limited.
