BUILDING ON the momen-
tum of last year’s successful
ski resort development,
Blackcomb Skiing Enter-
prises recently announced
the commencement of 11
new construction projects in
the Resort.

The developments, all of
which will begin this spring,
are designed to meet increas-
ing Canadian and interna-
tional demand for recre-
ational accommodation in
the Whistler Valley.

Last year’s $26 million
mountain expansion, which
centered on the introduction
of high-speed, high-capacity
ski lift) technology on
Blackcomb Mountain,  iz-
nited the largest single
season increase in ski resort
business in Canadian histo-

ry.

The 1987-1988 ski season,
which ended June 2, will ex-
ceed one million skier visits
between Blackcomb Moun-
tain and Whistler. Skier

tain alone are approaching
180 per cent of last season's
total.

Some 130 recreational
housing units included in last
season’s first phase of
development at The Resort
on Blackcomb were pre-sold
almost immediately.
