Suppose you could live in any ci- ty in the world. Where would you go — Athens? Acapulco? New York? London? Rome? Paris? But despite sometimes complaining about the weather, the cost of living or the unemployment statistics, some people would prefer to stay at home with their family and friends. And I have a great need to learn how to surf, Police fight increase in break-ins NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP are battling a recent increase in business break and enters. *A police spokesman said on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. a North Van- couver resident called RCMP to report. what he suspected was a break and enter in progress at 427 Monteray. Police were at the scene within minutes, and with the assistance of a West Vancouver Police dog, found two young of- fenders hiding. They were arrested and charged. eOn Jan. 31 at 4:30 a.m. of-. ficers saw a-male attempt to break and enter the Petro Can Service Station, at Capilano and Marine Drive. As’ police approached, the male fled, but was apprehended moments later. A young offender has been: charged with attempt- ed break and enter. eOn Jan. 29 at i2:30 p.m. police officers saw.a man causing a disturbance in the 1400 block of Lonsdale. The man threw a mail box into the street, and then pun- ched the front plate glass window of the Yarn Barn at 1449 Lons- dale. He was arrested near Lions Gate Hospital. His arm was badly cut in the incident. eOn Jan. 28 around 4:40 a.m. a patrol observed three males acting suspiciously. Further investigation found a business, at 1590 Marine Drive, had its front door smashed. and sped off. But they were ar- rested shortly after and charged with break and enter with intent. Charged are Allan Angus Mac- Pherson, 22, Grant Nolan Davis, .21, and Daniel Edward McKay, 21, all of North Vancouver. On Jan. 26 around midnight police officers on patrol observed a . front window of the Big T Restau- rant, near 4th and Lonsdale.
