HUGE MOUNDS of rotting garbage in the Seymour Landfill will soon be a thing of the past, promised North Vancouver District Mayor Don Bell at Monday’s~ council meeting. Bell told council the landfill will be expanded to the north and garbage will be dumped in the new part beginning Monday, November 2. People who live the other side of Lynn Creck from the landfill have been com- plaining about the height and smell of the garbage. and the noise of machines working there. They claim the garbage has made them physically ill, and have passed around a petition calling the height of the landfill unacceptable. . Bell conceded at Mon- day’s meeting that the present height of the landfill 2 is “slightly higher” than it should be. He told council he would bring forward some recommendations dealing with the landfill at next Monday’s meeting, but. didn't indicate what those recommendations would be.
