Lower Lonsdale core target of 26-year plan Katharine Hamer News Reporter LOWER Lonsdale is about to receive a face-lift. The first phase of a $30 million land redevelapment project begins this month: part of a 20-vear North Vancouver City plan to revi- talize the area and make Lower Lonsdale “a destina- tion living ond cultural cen- tre.” Hopes are high that the changes will encourage visi- tors from downtown Vancouver to explore beyond the boundaries of Lonsdale Quay. Development is on the cards for the Versatile Shipyards site — between Lonsdale and St. George's avenues (though firm plans have not yet been made) — and retail operations will soon open at the new Harbourside Business Park on the former Fullerton Fill site. But the bulk of immediate construction work is sched- uled to take place in and around the 100-block of West Ise Street, where the city has committed $2.5. million for park, road, and infrastructure upgrades.
