The fol- lowing is a sample of the many volunteer opportunities available through North Shore Community Services. FINANCIAL consultant. Share your financial skills with the fi- nance committee of a Delbrook Commuiity based agency. Volun- leer will give input and advice on the agency's financial arrange- ments. Orientation provided. Hours are flexible one to two hours per week in the evening. REACH out and touch some- one. Tele-friends with good English and communication skills are wanted to make friendiy phone calls from their homes to isolated seniors. Training and ori- entation provided. Hours are flex- ible (mornings) one hour per week from your home. PATIENT, sensitive people are needed on a short-term basis to call patients with medical alert phone systems to help patients get in the habit of resetting the machine on a daily basis. Volun- teer should have a strong, clear voice and be sensitive to the el- derly. Hours are Monday to Fri- day, 10 to 10:30 a.m. for approx- imately one month. Volunteer can make calls frc:is own home. ENJOY the public? A unique free service that lends equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, etc. to patients on a temporary basis, needs office staff for clerical work, keeping records and working with the public. Hours are Monday/Wednesday/ Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. Orientation provided. OBSERVER with excellent writ- ing, listening and English skills, and a professional appearance is wanted to observe either family or youth court. The court watcher must be an impartial, objective observer of the courtroom process while monitoring the proceedings. Volunteer will fill out stand- ardized forms during the court- toom sessions. Training provided at monthly meetings, first Monday at 1 p.m. at the North Vancouver courthouse. Actual hours are Tuesday, 9 a.m. to noon/! to 3 p.m. and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to noon/! to 4 p.m. twice monthly.
