IN WEST Coast Junior Hockey
League action, tie North Shore
Winter Club Flames came away
with three points this weekend as
they eked cut a 4-3 win over the
Coquitlam Wa:tiors at home and
then came from behind to salvage
a 3-3 tie with the Steelers .
On Saturday, the Coquitlam
Warriors opened ihe scoring with a
power play goal but the Flames

replied with a goal by Rob Tour-
nier from Andrew Wilsen and
Brad Costa.

In the second period, the Flames
went ahead 2-1 with Jason Loewen
scoring on the power play from
Scott Gordon and Brian Lee. Then
Lee, on a feed from Merilees and
Soha Ridd, ripped a shot from 20
feet out, giving the Flames a 3-i
lead.

Coquitlam pulled to within a
goal again.

But in the third, John Cox com-
bined with Costa for the Flames’
winning goal. The final goal of the
game was scored by the Warriors
with five minutes remaining.

On Sunday, the two teams were
tied 1-1 after one with a goal by
Gordon from Kevin Buhr.

In the second, Tournier scored

on the power play from Buhr and
Rich Haldane, and then the
Steelers went uhead 3-2.

But with just under two minutes
remaining, Lee screened a shot
from the point to send the game
into a 10-minute scoreless overtime
period.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, the
Flames host the Hastings Express
at the Winter Club at 8:45 p.m.
