Teachers deliver a class act,
worth an A on any report
card. In spite of a B-grade
plot about students who can't
read or write, and teachers
who have given into” the
system or given up on it,
Teachers remains a funny,
entertaining film.

Nick Nolte as the blond-
haired, sarcastic soctal
studies teacher Alex, goes to
the front of the class for his
pertormance. Nolte manages
to break free of his usual
pistol toting, cursing cop im-
age seen in such movies as 48
Hours

In Teachers, he comes
across as a credible, cursing
high school teacher who's

ideals were formed in the 60s
and who finds himselt lost
and bored in the 80s

The long-haired, sloppily
dressed maverick still likes
his students but has given up
on his own career and any
sense of satisfaction trom his

working-class style.

is sexy, smart Lisa (Jobeth
Willams). Lisa “is -a- former
student of the school and

ed all kinds of horrible vir-
