On Wednesday night the Highwaymen beat Carson Graham Eagles in what turned out to be a last minute 64-63 thriller. Carson Graham in- corporated a tough 2-1-2 zone and in the early going the Randy Young’s Highwaymen had a difficult time penetrating the zone, forcing them to shoot from the outside. A superb defen- sive effort kept the Eagles in the game and it took a last minute 20 foot shot by Rhys Duggan to cap the victory. Grade 10 student Colin Dix- on ‘netted 16 points while Rhys Duggan dropped 12 points in the winning cause. Highwaymen’s second game of the week saw them dominate West Vancouver Highlanders, who had earlier defeated top ranked Windsor Dukes. In game one of the tourna- ment the Dukes met Burnaby South in what amounted to a blowout winning by a lop- sided margin 91-43. In their second game they met No. Two provincially ranked Steveston Packers who throughout the game put full court pressure on the ball. Windsor handled the pressure exceptionally well in what coach Langley describ- ed as ‘the teams best game of the year’, as they went on toa resounding 29 point victory defeating Steveston by a score of 89-60. In game three of the tourney the Dukes met rank- ed Mt. Dougias Rams. The early going saw Windsor overcome foul trouble to Lodgins and Bustos, while Windsor forward Jason Brinham picked up the slack putting on a shooting clinic to score 24 points in the first half. In the second half of the game the Dukes patience and solid team effort saw them defeat the Rams at the buzzer by a score of 83-61. The tournament final pit- ted Windsor against Burnaby Central who had _ earlier defeated third-ranked Killarney Cougars. In the first half Tom Schimmer held the Dukes in the ball game netting 10 points in the first quarter and eight points in the second quarter, and followed this up with some exceptional rebounding. Dave Bustos who was even- tually named MVP for the Tournamet, was outstanding in the second half in breaking the press applied by Burnaby Central. Bustos hit three key hoops at the end of the game to lead Windsor to an 84-78 final victory. SUGGESTED LIST SECTION AUTO « BUSINESS.
