Senior basketball The North Shore Senior Boys Hoop — schedule resumed this week. For most of the teams, the following month and a half of games will be devoted to playing league scheduled games. Many of the coaches felt that playing a strong exhibition schedule prior to the Christmas break would allow their younger ball players to gain the experience necessary in hopes of vaulting them into the Howe Sound Championships. However, despite the small number of league games that have been played to date, the Teagué is beginning to show signs of the teams who will likely be in contention for the NUMber one spot at seasons end. Sentinel’s No. | ranking has held up to date as they are now sporting a four win, no loss record. This past week they entertained both Hillside and Handsworth on their home court. The home court advantage proved to much for the opposition to over come. In the first game Senunel defeated Hillside by a lopsided score of 113 to 68. In the first half Sentinel incorporating a full court press, built up a 16 point margin as they headed to the dressing room. Beginning the second half with a 54-38 lead the Spartans rattled off another 20 points by the four minute mark to take a commanding 74-44 lead. Vince Dong, and Axel Chnistiansen led all scores with 26 points apiece. while Hillside’s Chris Wilson netted 22 points. Sentinel Spartan coach Ken Sherk commenting after the game stated: “We played a strong game tonight, however the final score was no reflection on Hillside's abilitues. The game to this point had consisted of streaks and it was the Highlander's who were to enjoy the final streak as they headed to the buzzer. The Highlanders scored ten unanswered points to open up the fourth quarter and were able to keep this distance as they rode to a 72- 64 victory. Eric Termansen led West Vancouver with 18 points while teammates Mark Colher and Tony Martino had 14 apiece.
