appearance at Black Bond Books in City Square tomear-
row, Monday, June 28, at 12:30 p.m.

Leslie will be autographing
copies of his autobiography call-
ed, very appropriately, The Naked
Truth.

He was really disappointed that
he wasn't able to be one of the
special guests last Thursday at Mel
Lajac's 29th annual Golf Classic,
the tournament that benefits
needy children,

Despite that, there were 180
swingers out on the University
Golf Course in the bright sunshine
including the former Speaker of
the House John Reynolds, who
drove for 29 hours from his new
home in Scottsdale, Arizona to be
there to golf with his son Mike.

Mel Zajac and West Van's
Frank Guistra, the youthful presi-
dent of Yorkton Securities, joined
together to make this annua! Za-
jac Classic one of the most suc-
cessful tourneys ever.

BCTV’s Tony Parsons had a
great day on the links as did his
favorite tailor, Terry Sklavenitis
of Georgio’s Menswear.

Senator Ed Lawson was also
out on the course and at the din-
ner party along with footbail great
Gene Washington, the Zajac
Foundation’s Garry Wong,
Patrick Oswald, Frank Gigliotti,
and Lorie and Roy Lisogar, who
celebrated Roy’s birthday with a
party at their. waterfront villa
yesterday. They were joined by
Coquitlam mayor Lou Sekora,

The hoped-for star of the
event, Bob Hope, couldn't stay to
nolf. He wasn't feeling well so he

Meanwhile, Yorkton's Graham
Harris outbid everyone for a golf
game with the acclaimed comic.
Graham anted up $13,000 for the
privilege.

Best news of all was that this
year’s 29th annual Zajac Classic
raised $186,000...

Veteran adman dohn Leonard is
flying high this week.

John has been in the industry
for the past 44 years and has just
been inducted into the Hall of
Fame of the Advertising Agency
Association of British Columbia.

He joins three other notable
personalities, Ken Wright of
Hayhurst, Bey McChesney of
McKim and Doug Lamb of Baker
Lovick.

John retired a couple of years
ago as president of Miller Leonard
Advertising and Public Relations.
His partner was his good friend
and colleague, the Dean of PR,
Dean Miiler.

John Leonard is one of only
four people to be inducted
throughout the 19-year history of
the advertising agency association.

Lots of nostalgia last week on
the West Vancouver waterfron: at
the recently created Silk Purse Art
Gallery. ‘

There was a reception for
veteran West Vanner Jack
Rowland, who has written a book
of reminiscences of the very early
days of the North Shore.

Jack is the father of Scott
Rowland of the lighting company
Luminescence. His son Matthew
was one of the young artists ex-
hibiting at the same Silk Purse Art
Gallery in a new Kids Show.

The item is that the Silk Purse
Art Gallery was once the Rowland
family home... Cheers!
