44 - North Shore News — Sunday, November 28, 1999 New Grinding hours AFTER-WORK grinders had to readjust their hiking schedule at the beginning of this month, when the GVRD announced new hours for the Grouse Grind. The new times were set so that hikers can have as much light as possible while navigat- ing the steep and narrow trails. Early risers can now hit the trail ar 8 a.m., half'an hour ear- lier than the summer opening; but evening grinders must have started their hike by 3 p.m., when the gate at the trailhead is locked for the night. Power sweeps tourney Bob Mackin News Reporter TORONTO'S Jonathon Power won the first Canadian Invitational Squash Tournament Thursday at Hollyburn Country Club in a 3-0 sweep of Australia’s Anthony Hill. Power, ranked number one in the world, beat Hill 15-4, 15-12, 15-8 for the $6,000 winner’s share of the $33,000 purse. Power swept Richmond’s Viktor Berg Tuesday and beat Belgium’s Stefan Castelyn 3-1 in Wednesday's semi-final. Castelyn offered Power his biggest challenge of the three- day event. “Ic was a tough game,” said 25-year-old Power, 1998's world champion. “I snuck out. the first game, he wor. the see- ond and even the. third and fourth were really close. I did- n’t really dominate him ar all.” Power ballooned to a 12-2 lead over Hill and coasted to the first set victory.
