Games A group of North Shore synchronized swimmers are preparing to take part in the upcoming B.C. Summer Games in Ridge Meadows later this month. The 10 athletes are coached by Laura Thomas and compete as soloists and duats. SOCCER... Five North Shore girls are part of the U- 18 Provincial team taking part in the Nationals next weck. Kirsteen Buchan, Meghan Callaway, Rosalyn Hicks, Catherine Judd and Heather Shaw will travel to Edmonton for the July 24-29 tournament. @es SWIMMING... The Chena Swim Club amassed 813 points this weekend to place fifth overall as a club. The B.C. Championships were held in Richmond and 526 competitors from 33 clubs took part. North Vancouver-based Chena had 16 swimmers who qualified to take part, and eight Chena swimmers were able to swim fast enough to place in the finals each night. Chena medallists were: Micheile Landry was ‘awarded four gold medals by winning the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle events as well as the 200m backstroke. She also raced to two silvers — in the 200m and 400m Individual Medleys — anid a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly. Kristine Lowrie was a double gold medal winner as she won both the 100m and 200m backstroke events. Andrea Donohoe claimed two gold medals by winning the 50m and 100m freestyle, and two silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke events. Alexandra Leziy-Miller won a bronze in the 200m breaststroke; Kathleen Stoody won a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke; Ce CET ak Re eS a Oe Ree ee a Craig Mullen won bronze in the 100m back- stroke; Landry, Leziy-Miller, Kelsey Biair, Kimberly Anthony and Heather Donohoe teamed up for sil- ver medal and bronze medal showings in the medley and freestyle relays respectively. A Chena cam of Alison Atkinson, Kathleen Stoody, Kristine Lowrie and Andrea Donohoe won silver in the 200m _ medicy relay. Eri West-Sadler was a provincial finalise in three events. Rounding out Chena’s Provincial Championships team were Brian Yoon, Brett Favarro, Courtney Jelinek, Stephanie Worster and Bree Beveridge. Four Chena swimmers (Leziy-Miller, Landry, Lowrie and Andrea Donohoe) will travel to L.A. next week to compere in the Janet Evans Invitational.
