CHETWYND - FITSUL eck ; CRIGHTON - Atberte, the mother o North Shore News Publisher Peter Speck, died Sunday, May 9, 1993 in her Norgate Park home, She was 86. A North Shore sesident for 50 years, Mrs. Crighton semained active in the com- munity until relatively recently. She drove her own car untit late in life and took Spanish lessons when she was 80. Mrs. Crighton was also an enthusiastic gardener and cook. An avid reader, she was fluent in both French and English. Mis. Crighton was born in Montreal, the oungest of five children. She moved to fest Vancouver in 1943. Her first husband, West Vancouver's Alan Speck, died in 1959. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Bert Crighton. Mrs. Crighton is survived by her sisters Yvette Lalonde of West Vancouver and Marcelle Cormier of Montreal; daughter Andree Ross of North Vancouver; son Peter Speck of West Vancouver; and grandsons Scott Ross, Alan Speck, David Speck and John Speck, A funeral service for Mrs. Crighton will be held today at North Vancouver's Boal Memorial Chapel, 1505 Lillocet Road, North Vancouver, starting at 2 p.m, Those attending who bring flowers are asked to bring vases so the flowers can be taken home after the ceremony, which is being organized by First Me- morial Funeral Services.
