Assaults investigated

THE WEST. Vancouver Police are investigating whether
the attempted attack on # young woman last week is
linked to the abduction and. assault of a female at
Ambleside Beach one day earlier. ’

Det. Stewart Nowacki said Tuesday (hat at about 4:40°
p.m. on Friday, March 26, a 14-year-old female was
grabbed from behind by a male as she walked along a
‘narrow walkway between commercial buildings in the
, 2400-block of Marine Drive.

, The femaie turned and kicked the suspect in the groin
and ran to (he West Vancouver Police station to report
the incident. ,

One day earlier, a 19-year-old) North Vancouver
woman was abducted and assaulted at knifepoint. at
Ambleside Beach at about 1 p.m.

She managed to escape her abductor at about 3 p.m.
in the Dundarave area. ;

Nowacki said the description of both suspects appear
to be similar. ;

The suspect in the original incident is described us be-
ing a white male, about 25 years ald, six feet (1.8 m) tall
and of thin build.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to
call Nowacki at 922-4141,

Bank robbed

THE WEST Yancouver Police are searching for a lone
male who robbed the National Trust at the south end of
the Park Roysl Shopping Centre of an: undisclosed
amount of cash. :

A police spokesman said 2 man entered the bank at
about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, ad approach-
‘ed a teller. ;

The suspect produced a handgun and fied after receiy-
ing an undetermined umount of money.

The suspect is described as being a white male,
5°10°{177 cm), 160 pounds (73 kg) with dark hair. He
was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked
to call the West Vancouver Police at 922-4141.

Rollerblader fined

A 23-YEAR-OLD West: Vancouver man appeared in
provincial court on Monday, March 22, and pleaded
guilty to roflerskating on the scawail in West Vancouver.

Brian Bergot was one of two rollerbladers charged in
eonnection with the incident that occurred on May 3,
1992, near the 2400-biock of Marine Drive.

“We were there.| We got caught,’’ said Bergot, who
represented himself in West Vancouver provincial court.

Bergot and another man were rollerskating on the
seawall at 5:40 p.m. when there was a ‘‘minor collision’’
with u witness, said Crown lawyer David Ruse.

Bergot told Judge Reginald Grandiscn that the area
