Gillmore is a graduate of West Vancouver Secondary Schoo! and the Emily Carr School of Art. He now lives and works in New York. The 25 year old creates images by scratching the masonite surface down to the plaster sizing, rubbing the expanded areas surrounding the incising with pigment and wip- ing it away to reveal the image. Gillmore draws his images from a textbook that he found by chance in a used book store in Vancouver. His discovery of the book, Methods in the Art of Tax- idermy, has served as inspiration for his most recent works. More recently, Gillmore has moved beyond taxidermy to creating images with a political edge. Gillmore’s work will be exhib- ited at the gallery until Dec. 21. give Please where you see this sign.
