On Sun., Dec. 22, the ships leave at 7:30 p.m. and tour the Ambleside, West Vancouver, Dundarave, Caulfeild and West Van- couver area. The ships return to port each evening around 10:30 p.m. The Carol Ship Parade also cruises to Kitsilano- West Point Grey Dec. 20. The Carol Ship idea, developed by the Greater Vancouver Convention and Visitors Bureau, was pro- posed originally by the sales manger of the Bayshore Inn, who thought it would pro- vide a unqiue Christmas event for visitors and Van- couverites alike. The parade has now grown from a single ship in 1960 to nearly 60 vessels this year. Parks Board commis- sioner George Wainborn, who has chaired. this com- mittee since 1960, has never missed a sailing and has yet. to see the spectacle from shore. All ships in the parade are registered in advance and must observe safety regula- tions issued by the com- modore, Captain Denis Wardell.
