SWIM_ MEET NS in top five NORTH SHORE schools took four out of the top five positions in a swim meet against Burnaby-New Westminster squads, but the one spot they didn’t get was the top one. St. Thomas More, a boys school! from Burnaby, finish- ed first overall, followed by Sentinel, Handsworth, Wind- sor, and Seycove. Argyle, Carson Graham and Balmoral also finished in the top ten among the 14 schools entered. Handsworth finished first among senior girls, with 74 points, but the best senior boys North Shore school was Sentinel, in third place with 46 points, compared to St. Thomas More’s 136 and Bur- naby North’s 82 points. Three meet records were set by North Shore swimmers or teams: Handsworth 200m girls B relay team set a new record of 2:20.0; Janet Oakes from Carson Graham finish- ed more than a second ahead of her nearest rival in setting a new 50m girls B freestyle record; and Sara Poon of Sentinel did the same in the 50m girls B backstroke. The first five finishers in each event qualified for the B.C. Swimming Champion- ships. Space considerations prevents the listing of all North Shore qualifiers.
