solving the perennial
problem of finding the

perfect shoe to match |

your new outfit.

said Barry Surukawa,

manager of Pronti Shoes in “'

the Harbour Centre in Van-
couver.

“Wear your new outfit into
our store. Wander. through-
out the shop to find just the
right colour in shoes to
match your suit or dress.
Take as long as you want,”
said Surukawa.

Often the only shoes in
traditional shoe styles that
are available in the specific
colour you wish are extreme-
ly expensive and they in-
evitably spend more time on
the closet floor than on the
feet.

When fashions change and
you buy yet another new
suit, you can also afford to
make your look complete
with shoes that are comfort-
able and the right colour,
said Surukawa.

He points out, however,

that they:only make sandal’

shoes and not closed-toe
shoes.

Customers pick the heel of
their choice, from almost
flat to three and three-
quarter inches, in either
natural, wood, pink, white
or black.

They then choose the san-
dal style from those on
display, at the same ‘time
considering the right colour.
“We have 150 different col-
ours and styles,” promised
Surukawa.

“All materials have to be
man-made because leathers
stretch and you lose the
custom fit of your shoe,”
said Surukawa.

Their shop, only the se-
cond of its kind in Western
Canada has been open only
for the last two months.

However the idea is not
new. “It originated in Italy
during the Second World
War,” said Surukawa.
