Videotape presentation to probe problems of learning disabled A SPECIAL VIDEOTAPE presentation will be a highlight of tonight's (Wednesday, May 11) general meeting of the North Vancouver Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities. The meeting takes place in the Curriculum Services Centre, 135 West 12th St., North Van. beginning at 7:30 p.m. Enutled “What do you do with a kid like that?” the presentation is a portrayal of an il-year-old boy with a learning disability and the difficulties encountered. Topics to be discussed at the meeting will include: a play for classrooms to create understanding of the learning disabled; selection of professional advisors; increased adult LD mem- bership; protection of legal and individual rights; and formation of a parent support group. All interested parents and educators, as well as regular NVACLD members are welcome to participate. 1911. As a young child, Ethel attended the first school in the municipality. It was ungraded, enroljed 21 pupils and was located at 18 t. and Marine Drive Phe school also served ag a Presbyterian Church. In her adult life she had a long and highly successful career as a respected and well-loved primary teacher in the same school system. Thirty-eight of her 40 years of teaching were spent in West Vancouver. Her first teaching year, 1919-1920, was spent in ae_e small ungraded school near Cranbrook, her second year in the gold mining town of Surf Inlet on Princess Royal Island. She then returned to West Vancouver, teaching two years at Whytechff, two at Hollyburn School and thirty-four at Pauline Johnson School. Ethel was a golfer, a keen lawn bowler and © skilful badminton player she and a colleague.
