By NANCY WEATHERLEY A decadent, and very sexual farce about extra terrestrial kinks, the show is not for anyone who is easily offended. But it does give local kinks a dress-up, heckling spree for the midnight per- formance, so if the characters on stage are a litte dull, those in the audience are likely to relieve the boredom. Thursday's opening night performance started out with a bang when Magenta (Lynda Boyd) made a dynamic entrance. It whimpered a little when Frank N. Furter (Andrew Rhodes) made a rushed and awkward entrance a little later. He spent the first few scenes looking like a straight man trying to play a tran- svestite and feeling lke a failure. But when he did get into his role, he became a delightful transexual nymphomaniac. Simon Webb, playing Riff- Raff, was nothing but ex- cellent, and Brad and Janet (David Keeley and Lelani Marrell) also gave solid performances, being par- ticularly strong vocalists whose voices blend well. But while the general quality of the cast was good, with the exception of Columbia (Laure Bruneau) whose main claim to fame was an ear-piercing shreik, the show had its rocky moments. , The sound system is awful. WOODEN PLATE Restaurant Ltd. Free Delivery on All food items. Family Continental Cuisine 2988 Mountain Hwy., N.V. 986-3010 They’re doing the time warp again Frank N. Furter’s ren- dition of Sweet Transvestite was ruined by a microphone that was alternately crackling and cutting out altogether. And some of the special effects failed to function as well. Make-up and costumes deserve note, as does simple but effective choreography packed into a very small space. The set is also good, more so because it is put up night- ly. The Rocky Horror Show continues Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at midnight, with matinees at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and an 8:30 p.m. show Sunday evening. We party six THE PUB: nights a week!
