The former proprictor of Delbrook Esso has moved to 975 Marine Drive in North Vancouver and set up Gerry's Auto Repair. Delbrook Esso closed at the end of June after nearly 40 years — the last 17 with Graca at the helm. The 35-vear vet- cran certified mechanic had mixed emotions about the clo- sure. He’s looking forward to serving customers, old and new, at his new garage. “It was very emotional for me when they were putting the fence up and knocking down the pumps,” Graca said. “There must’ve been 30 to 40 people there, cach one of them had a job to do. Within six hours the station was closed. “Pve served that communi- ty really well, and I’m proud of it. Ihave no problems with Esso shutting me down either. It was time for me.” Graca’s shop is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to § p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. fo noon. Delbrook Esso was one of several stations in the Lower Mainland targeted by Esso par- ent Imperial Oil for closure or renovations this year.
