MILLINERY is old hat
for Jeanette Cahir.

The Aussie import learned
her trade in Melbourne, where
she studied under Waltrand
Reiner, a student of milliner-
to-the-Queen Rose Corey.

Cahir also worked in
Englana where she exercised

her creativity making fanciful
chapeaux for her clients to
wear at the Ascot races. One
stunning creation — an enor
mous-brimmed gossamer
straw trimmed with silver
organza roses — landed in the
pages of Brirish Vague.

Since September, Cahir has
been milliner-in-residence at
Eleanor Mack.

She’s working with bou-
tique owner Lynne Stevenson
to create straws and dress hats
that coordinate with spring’s
feminine fashions —- a look
that’s very strong in England,

she savs, and is being helped
along by romantic movies like
Evita and Portrait of a Lady,
films in which hats have star-
ring roles.

Cahir’s holding an in-store
workshop Saturday, March 8,
from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
on hat trimming, reshaping
and selection. The cost is $35.

She’s aiso hoping, to. start
up a six-week miiliner's course,
beginning the end of March.
