This is down from 2.4 per cent in April 1987 for the Van- couver Census Metropolitan Area. All areas within the Met- ropolitan Area have lower vacancy rates than in April 1987. Vancouver City’s rate is. 1.2 per cent compared to 2.3 per cent in April. In North Vancouver City the vacancy rate is down to 0.5 per cent from 1.5 per cent. In| North Vancouver District the vacancy rate is down to 0.4 per cent from 2.2 per cent. In West Van- couver it is down to 0.2 per cent from 0.3 per cent. In the surrounding areas of Metropolitan Vancouver, vacancy rates are also lower. Abbotsford's rate is down from 2.9 per cent in April 1987 to 3.6 per cent in Oc- tober. The survey covers 123,195 units in privately owned rental apartment and row units.
