rehew dy Couosle celebrates golden anniversary LYNN VALLEY pioneers Harold and Jean Fromme will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 31. Family members will come from Barriere, Penticton and Midway, B.C. to attend a family dinner par- ty held in their honor. Lillian Jean Anderson and Harold Cook Fromme were mar- tied Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1938, at St. John’s United Church, Van- couver. After.a honeymoon to Banff and Lake Louise they took up res- idence in Lynn Valley, where they have lived for the past 50 years. The Frommes have two children, 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. According to daughter Rhelda Nicholson, four generations of the family still live on the North Shore. Jean was born in Montreal and went to school in Rutland and Vancouver. She met Harold through a mutual friend on a visit to West Vancouver from Rutland. Harold is the son of Julius Mar- tin Fromme, one of the founders of Lynn Valley. He has lived in Lynn Valley for all 83 years of his life. Organizer Nikki (Robinson) Kerr has arranged a multitude of activities for the October 7-9 Thanksgiving Weekend that’ will allow grads to renew old friend- ships and star. some new ones. A Friday night get-together at Argyle is planned for the grads and teachers, and then spouses and dates will get in on the act with a Saturday night dinner-dance at the Coach House Inn. Depending upon the weather, a family picnic at Ambleside will take place on Sunday. Kerr says that everyone who has responded so far is ‘‘super right into it.’* The six-member reunion committee sent out an initial mail- ing in January, and has just sent out a second invitation and infor- mation package. She says over 100 tickets for the Coach House ban- quet have been purchased, and ex- pects to self many more within the next few weeks. Kerr, who has until recently liv- ed in Squamish with her husband and three children, says she decid- ed.to start organizing a reunion with Charlotte (Barkhouse) Harvey last year. Harvey is currently a music teacher in Victoria. Sixty-five grads are still missing — organizers have been unable to locate them in order to let them know about the reunion. Everyone is invited to bone up on their local natural history knowledge at the following events. On Sunday, Sept. 4 will be a Famiiy Field Trip. Meet at the Crab Shack on Dollarton Highway at 1 p.m. for a bird-watching walk around Maplewood Flats. The walk will go for two hours. The Ecology Centre is looking for volunieers to act as attendants and instructors for their elemen- tary school programs.
