Third Grouse unit leader Cor- inne Coyston says that in order to earn the Canada Cord, girls must complete the bronze, silver and gold levels in six categories: Be Prepared, Home, Community, World, Camping and Outdoors. “They would say that (the gold level in camping) was the hardest, but also the most fun,’ said “Coyston. This challenge requires - the girls to organize and lead a two-night camping trip for a group of girls. Coyston says that the girls now plan to go on to Rangers and work for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. However, she says there is current- ly no Ranger leader in the area. Coyston herself has been a Guide leader for 11 years and sees Pathfinders, which originated in 1979, as a “‘really neat program.” For girls 12. to 15, it follows Brownies, which is for six to nine year olds, and Guides, for the nine to 12 set.
