WEST Vancouver’s seventh annual Harmony
Arts Festival kicks off today.

The 10-day celebration of visual, musical dance and
theatre arts takes place at a variety of seaside settings and
recreational venues.

The highlights:

ARTBEAT: 180 store windows in Ambleside and
Dundarave become a street gallery of fine art, Aug. 8-17.
CONCERTS: Jazz, classical and rock at John Lawson and
Dundarave. parks.

STUDIO TOURS: Thirty-seven. North Shore artists’ ate-
liers and galleries open to the public. Tours are self-guided
(maps available at Ferry Building Gallery) or by bus (pre-
book through West Van rec centre: 925-7270).
ENVIROART: A beach sculprure competition rakes to
various locations between 14th and 17th streets, Aug. 16.
CREATIVE KIDS DAY: North Shore News sponsors
this day dedicated to kids and the creative process, Aug.
16.

ARTSPEAKS: Ferry Building and Silk Purse galleries play
host to mini-lectures on art-related subjects, Aug. 14-17.
