8 - Friday. Avausl 26, 1994 - North Shore News Dear Editor: In response to Doug Collins ('Voleana spews straight commie stuff"), [ would like to articulate a bit of our vision concerning Western Canada's largest annual youth fes- tival. What Collins describes as a “loony sing-a-long” is in fact North Vancouver's premiere annual arts festival put together by 160 youth volunteer. and coordinators from all walks of life and various political per- suasions. We worked long days and late nights to present more than 80 North Shore and Vancouver artists for a free festival which 5,000 youth and young families enjoyed. The North Shore Youth Art Works Dear Editor: Congratulations to North Vancouver District Council on the passage of its recent motion ban- ning logging trucks from North Vancouver District roads. It is through innovative actions such as this that we will all be eventually safe from the murderous rampages of the serial tree killers that continue to stalk the water- shed. While some might sce this bylaw as a cynical and childish attempt to bypass the GVRD board, I say damn the boom boats; full speed ahead. If Transportation Minister Jackie Pement will not ratify this bylaw, North Van District Council should take a more direct approach. I suggest a ban on chain- saws, caulk boots, hard-hats, and axes from the confines of this fair city. Force loggers living in the city to wear an identifying tattoo on their foreheads. T hear that Svend Robinson is out of the joint and just itching for more publicity — oops, action. Perhaps district council could arrange for recent immigrants to do the watershed logging. That would surely send the great humanitarian and “journalist” Doug Collins into a frenzy. Spring Carlos the Jackal from his French jail cel! and send him to the GVRD building. Why, the possibilities are just endless. AJ) the best to these brave coun- ciliors in their continuing struggie. Rob Kyle Port Moody Keg full 0’ bad haggis?
