and Jacqueline Cristianini’s
long-awaited $1.2 million
post-production film sound
studio officially opened for
business fast Friday.

Brooksbank Avenue in North
Vancouver, has been in the plan-
ning for two years. It was made
possible by federal and provincial
government loans totalling
$567,500.

Sharpe and Christianini recently
relocated to Vancouver after five
years in Los Angeles, where they
worked on such films as Broad-
cast News and Dick Tracy, which
earned Sharpe an Academy Award
nomination.

Their new facility boasts a 25-
foot nigh, 3S-mm Dolby stereo
sound mixer stage, equivalent to
L.A.’s Stage A at Todd-AO
Glenn-Glen Studic, where
blockbusters E.T. and The Sound
of Music were mixed.

“The motion picture industry is
worth clase to $300 million a year
from British Columbia and about
80% of these productions come
from outside the province,"’ said
Capilano-Howe Sound MP Mary
Collins, who spoke at the official
opening on behalf of Western
Economic Diversification Minister
Charles Mayer.

to go home to finish their films.
Projects like this help B.C. keep
more of the post-production

Sharpe’s high quality work will
add to the reputation of the whole
