Kirin cuisine receives kudos From page 30 It was reasonably interesting. | tried a Kirin Hot Dynamite temaki sushi ($3.50), which was very good and packed a good spicy wallop. It was delivered in a large lami- nated bowl with a dollop of wasabi (bracing green Japanese horseradish) and slices of pickted ginger root. The cone-shaped sushi is like an adult snow cone, it came stuffed with rice, spears of zucchini, fresh coriander and a tempura prawn. A lethal looking red pepper sauce soaked one side of what was an excellent combination of food textures and flavors. To me, it was reminiscent of Chinese lettuce wraps. | highly recommend it for those with a hankering for something spicy and different. A special assorted Nigiri Sushi ($16.95) arrived on a miniature wooden boat. !t was food beautifully presented, which is one of the outstanding features of Jap- anese cuisine, and wonderfully colorful. The sushi included flying fish roe, salmon roe, egg, buttery smooth salmon, tuna, geoduck, prawns, octopus and herring roe. Capt. Frank sailed his order around the table several times while recounting several lengthy and tiresome sea stories. A sampled Kirin Seafood Dinner ($16.50) provided extremely good food value anc an excellent cross-section of Japanese foods: nigiri and maki sushis, tempura and yakitori sticks. The order also came with green tea, miso soup, rice, sunomono and an interesting green tea ice cream for dessert. Kirin adds the skill and sophistication of good Japanese cuisine to the gentle breezes and Sylvia Meintosh Verity — Acrylics — Adolf Setter Metal Craftsman 987-4458 ® Cellulite reduction muscle ¢ Reduces stress Cail now NEW TO BODYGEARS — REFLEXOLOGY seaside serenity of Horseshoe Bay.
